Part 1: Set Up Chime Bank Account on Mobile App
- Download Chime App
o Get the Chime app from Google Play or Apple App Store. - Sign Up
o Open app, tap Sign Up, enter name, Social Security number, email, and U.S.
address. - Verify Identity
o Wait for Chime to verify your info (takes a few minutes). - Access Account
o Once approved, your Checking Account and virtual debit card are ready. Physical
card arrives in 7–10 days.
Part 2: Log In to PayPal and Link Chime - Log In to PayPal
o Open PayPal app or go to www.paypal.com, enter email/phone and password. - Link Chime Bank Account (Important click bank not debit card)
o Go to Wallet > Link a card or bank > Bank.
o Enter Chime email and password you created for Chime
o It will send a code for verification to your text messages, go to your text
messages and copy and paste or remember the code then go back to the PayPal
app and enter the code. - Confirm Link
o Chime checking appears in PayPal Wallet. Use it to add money instantly or make
payments.
If PayPal says cannot link account or any type of error response here is how to fix that.
- Call the PayPal customer support number 888-221-1161
- They will have you type the last 4 digits of your social security number
- No matter what questions they ask say “customer support”
- They will then ask you a couple more questions than you keep responding with
“customer support” - Then they will finally transfer you to a live agent.
- They will ask who you are and some personal questions.
- Tell them you are trying to link your chime bank account to PayPal using the online
method not the slow method with the account and routing number. - They will ask why are you trying to link the account. Respond with I want to use it to
buy groceries and gas. - They will ask some personal questions from a third-party checking agency like what
color was your 2011 Buick, or Did you ever live at this street address, or what county
did you live in. Answer those questions to the best of your ability and they will lift
the security block and then they will say try to link your chime account again. - If you answered their security questions correctly and tried to link it again it should
work. If not they will ask you security questions again or have you try to link it again
or say if you answered all the questions wrong more than 2 times wait 3 days before
trying again.
